The projects are hitting site thick and fast now. On this wet and windy Monday morning we are now starting on site at West Rise School. The project consists of four independent units located upon different wings of the existing school building. The new units will provide much needed additional classroom space, offices and a new reception. In total the four buildings will provide 900m² of extra floor space and all this will be erected on site in a matter of weeks.
It is times like these when the speed with which a building can be erected using modern methods of construction really come into their own. With school out for summer the bulk of the work will be complete by the end of the summer holidays with minimal disruption to the day to day running of the school.
The proposed building will use Streif’s closed panel timber frame system which will ensure a comfortable internal working environment for pupils and staff with low energy coming as standard. The buildings will be finished in brickwork and coloured rainscreen cladding with a flat roof utilising Streif roof cassettes, which will provide detailing in contrast to that of the existing school building.
West Rise School is another project being delivered by Baxall Construction Ltd with Streif UK providing the structural envelope. See below for the first images from site with more detail to follow on our project pages and Twitter/Facebook feeds.
