Built in 2007 for Blue Sonic Ltd and designed by architects BPM, The Nurseries was the first large scale construction project in the UK to be undertaken by any German house manufacturer. Eighteen traditionally styled townhouses were built by STREIF in the town of Lewes, East Sussex and were successfully marketed to the private sector.

The homes benefit from high levels of insulation, good air tightness, integrated plumbing services, Schuco aluminium windows and free standing balconies and terraces. They are also a good example of how offsite manufactured (OSM) homes can lend themselves architecturally to the local vernacular be that in the UK, France or Germany.

The 3,008 m² development of brick and timber clad townhouses went up in record time and very much caught the attention of the local media, as can be seen in the TV news feature opposite, as well as in the trade and architectural press.
