Built by Streif for Brighton & Hove City Council and designed by Miller Bourne Architects, Buckley Close was another project built in partnership with main contractor Morgan Sindall CI Ltd.
Buckley Close is a brand new development of 12 council rented homes constructed on the site of 51 empty council garages in Hangleton, Hove. The scheme was approved at the Housing & New Homes Committee in November 2018 with planning permission granted in April 2019. The 12 apartments consisting of 8 No. 2 bedroom 4 person flats, 3 No. 1 bedroom 2 person flats, 1 No. 1 bedroom 2 person wheelchair accessible flat (designed to comply with Part M4(3) are now complete with tenants living happily in their new homes.
STREIF designed and manufactured the buildings to the Architects bespoke design in our standard design and production period of 16 weeks. Streif site operations started in Autumn 2019 with works being phased over the three blocks. The site works required careful planning and management due to the location and nature of the site within built up residential area. Streif worked in partnership with the Morgan Sindall site team to ensure that there was minimum disruption to the local residents.
The project is an excellent showcase of what can be achieved when high quality structural timber is combined with innovative factory production to deliver well needed social housing for the local area.
