Streifs collaboration with East Sussex County Council, main contractor - Fowler Building Contractors and designer - Evolution Architects has successfully created Bexhill Academy's new classroom block.

The new two storey structure with a total floor area of 521m2 is a multi-use block, consisting of exam, food tech and classroom areas plus general amenity spaces. The new construction is clad externally in Siberian Larch timber cladding to offset it against the existing more contemporary School building.

As we were working within the constraints of an existing site which was extremely tight on space, careful planning of the logistics, sequencing of deliveries and lifting operations was required to ensure that we would be able to carry out our site operations safely at an active School environment. The nature our offsite system means reduced numbers of deliveries and reduced numbers of trades on site, resulting in reduced H&S risks when compared to traditional methods of construction. So, a perfect solution for projects of this nature.

Our site team completed the install of the Streif timber panels and cassettes in just five weeks, handing over to the main contractor for fit out in a timely manner and enabling the new building to be handed over to the School for the start of the new term.
