Built in 2009 for Worthing Homes Housing Association and designed by architects Miller Hughes Associates, Lyndhurst Rd was the second joint venture between STREIF and main contractor W Stirland Ltd. The 848 m² building, containing 12 flats arranged over three floors, is situated in a conservation area and was therefore required to blend in with the surrounding Victorian stuccoed villas.

The result is a building that would be hard to distinguish from its neighbours and yet has been built using modern methods of construction (MMC) only. The tenants enjoy the high level of warmth that goes with the Alsecco externally insulated render system, and the flats are particularly quiet thanks to STREIF’s acoustically excellent internal separating walls.

The site had its challenges, one of which was the narrowness that allowed no room for any storage. STREIF therefore had to ensure that every single one of the hundreds of building elements was delivered in exactly the right order and at exactly the right time – they were!
