Built in 2010 as a full design and build turnkey project, the Westholz Assisted Living Home in Dortmund was STREIF's first commission from City Council care Provider SHDO. The home is made up of twenty nine self contained units and covers a total of 2,292 m².
The off site manufactured building has the latest mechanical ventilation with heat recovery technology, along with very high levels of insulation, in order to guarantee maximum levels of comfort for the residents and minimum running costs for the operators.
With a precast concrete service core housing lifts, staircases and power units, and external steel balconies and escape routes, it's a good example of how heavy duty, advanced panel, timber frame can be successfully integrated with other building systems to provide a complete solution. The entire building programme from foundations to carpeting took 5 months to complete.
